2007 Inaugral Event
The Gold Box Restaurant Challenge captured all who live and work within the hospitality industry to platform their talent in preparing the most sumptuous menu for diners who attend the Gold Box Restaurant Challenge evening.
Organised by Ocearn Pty. Limited t/as the Gold Box Restaurant Challenge produced a dining experience like no other in Australia.
The 2007 Gold Box Restaurant Challenge was an outstanding success held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, Broadbeach Gold Coast.
14 restaurant teams in 14 kitchens created 14 different menus all using the same product. 420 guests and VIP’s dined on Monday 20th August. On Sunday afternoon the Chefs from the 14 participating restaurants met at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre to receive their GOLD BOX of product. Each Team had 1 ½ hours to create their menu which was judged Monday afternoon prior to the evening activities.
Ed Halmagyi, Channel 7 Celebrity Chef was the compere for the evening and the guests were entertained to live music, street theatre and enjoyed mouthwatering food and an array of fine tasting red and white wines.
The winning restaurants were:
- 1st Room 81 Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach
- 2nd Chill on Tedder, Main Beach
- 3rd Restaurant B, Main Beach
This year’s Gold Box Restaurant Challenge will showcase culinary excellence and is being staged in Toowoomba and the Gold Coast assisting the regions of Queensland in becoming recognized as a destination of choice for an excellent dining experience.
